Survived by his sisters, Vera Hoswell of Dayton, and Mary Nolan of Ireland; and brothers, Terry, Noel and John of England. Steve passed away with his sister, Vera, Tess and niece, Lorraine Russell at his side. He was the owner of AlDon Upholstery in Covinyton, KY and was a former member and officer ofthe Ancient Order of Hibernians.

Dr. Horwitz was a native of Brooklyn, NY, received his undergraduate degree from University College of N.Y.U., attended the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh, Scotland, and completed his medical degree at St. Louis University in 1938. Dr. Horwitz was engaged in general practice in Dayton, OH retiring in 1975.

He was one of the co-founders of the General Practice Section of the Montgomery County Medical Society, a member of the A.M.A. from 1970- 1975, and a charter member of the Omega Circle of Retired Attending Physicians at Good Samaritan Hospital. He served on the Montgomery County Combined Board of Health and was its president in the last year of his tenure. Dr. Horwitz received recognition for his devoted support of civil rights, racial equality, and social justice.

Following cremation a public memorial service will be held Sunday, February 4 at 1:00 P.M. in the auditorium of Good Samaritan Hospital.
