Old Bay Shrimp

Old Bay seasoning is a spice mixture that Marylanders are proud to claim as their own. This is because it was originally created right in Baltimore. It is a mixture of celery salt, black pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, paprika, and a bunch of other spices.

This is the perfect spice to use when you are adding flavor to any kind of seafood. When I added it to my favorite kind of all – shrimp – I knew I found a winner!

In order to make it taste even more scrumptious, I sweetened the shrimp with some sugar-free honey. The result is so incredible, you’ll want to eat three servings!

Best Keto Honey

As you probably already know, honey isn’t keto-friendly. So, what is the next best thing? My favorite sugar-free honey is from Nature’s Hollow. It has the same sticky texture and sweet taste, but no sugar!

If you don’t have a honey substitute, you can also use liquid Stevia. It’s really easy to find at almost any grocery store. As long as you use a liquid sugar replacement, you’ll create a delicious plate of shrimp.

Keto Sweet and Spicy Shrimp

One of the best things about this recipe is that each serving only has 1 gram net carbs! That’s because the only thing with carbs in it is the honey substitute.

If you really wanted to, you could leave that sweetener out. The shrimp will taste absolutely perfect when you sprinkle just Old Bay on top. They really will.

Since this entire recipe is ready in less than 20 minutes, you can make this right before a large party, or for dinner on super busy weeknights.

How To Cook Shrimp In A Skillet

My favorite way to cook shrimp is in a cast-iron skillet. It cooks so quickly this way. When you do, make sure you coat the bottom of the skillet with enough butter. This will protect the shrimp from sticking to the bottom.

Also, make sure the heat is high enough. You want to give the shrimp a perfectly crispy coating. I used medium-high heat. This also prevented my butter from splattering too much.

The safe cooking temperature of shrimp is 145F. Use an instant-read food thermometer to make sure it is fully cooked.

Best Keto Shrimp Recipe

This shrimp is perfect for lunch or dinner. If you are serving it for dinner, make some keto garlic knots on the side. I also like to make an easy keto broccoli salad on the side. Or, add your favorite zoodles or palmini noodles with them too.

These store really well so you can use them in your meal prep too. Keep them in an airtight food storage container and they will stay fresh in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Eat them with your favorite chopped salad for a filling and delicious lunch!
