Is JPMorgan Chase the most profitable bank in the United States?
JPMorgan Chase is the leading bank in the country based on several profitability KPIs, such as by revenue and net income, in addition to market capitalization and total assets. According to other profitability ratios however, such as return on equity (ROE), JPMorgan Chase ranks third, while U.S. Bank boasts the highest, followed by Bank of New York Mellon. Finally, in terms of return on assets (ROA), JPMorgan Chase ranks fourth, while PNC Financial Services has the highest ROA, followed by Morgan Stanley, and U.S. Bank.
Customers of U.S. banks
Capital One Financial Corporation received the highest customer satisfaction of the leading banks in the United States in 2021, based on channel activities, communication and advice, convenience, new account opening, product resolution, and products and fees. PNC, and the U.S. branch of the Canadian TD Bank followed, while JPMorgan Chase ranked fourth. The three other largest banks – Citibank, Bank of America, and Wells Fargo – all ranked below the industry average in terms of customer satisfaction. However, in terms of convenience, both the number of branches and the access to mobile banking are important factors to consider and for both these measures, JPMorgan Chase led in the number of active mobile banking customers, and ranked second in number of branches.
