Do not pay the toll for the first toll booth at all. Instead, go up and past some cones to reach some more construction work.

Squall

Have AUBREY break a barrel and fight a (43/85) MUSSEL protecting a blue MELON. MUSSELS have high DEFENSE; a quick way to deal with them would be OMORI's FOLLOW-UP or any move that ignores DEFENSE. The item you'll get is a SHUCKER, which is a new weapon for HERO. It doesn't add to HEART like the FRYING PAN does and it doesn't have any pro-SNACK benefits, but maybe you're not even using SNACKS with HERO anyway since he has so many SKILLS that replace them. The SHUCKER adds a well-needed +3 to his ATTACK compared to the FRYING PAN. The next enemy you'll find is to the right and should be a (44/85) FISH BUNNY. Adorable.

Enter a cave at the far right edge of the area and talk to the (45/85) SHADY MOLE. Yeah. At Lv30, AUBREY will learn LAST RESORT, which deals a ridiculous - and I mean ridiculous - amount of damage if you use it at full health. The SHADY MOLE will drop your stolen CLAMS when defeated. Continue to avoid the actual UNDERWATER HIGHWAY - there's still some stuff in this construction mess we want to do. When fighting, OMORI and his DULL KNIFE can do very heavy damage in one turn with his FOLLOW-UP. Climb up a long-ish ladder to a single joke on a joke board and write it down. Make sure you do this one this time!

SNALEY will meet you at the end of the wooden scaffolding. He wants to become stronger like you guys are. He's a little, uh, underperforming. SNALEY is one of a select few enemies that does not appear in your FOE FACTS! journal. Follow him into the cave and meet a (46/85) REVERSE MERMAID. The (47/85) SHARK FIN enemy is also guaranteed to appear here. Only exit the cave (a light source entering the cave) from the far left side. SWEETHEART will taunt you as she floats away. Fight SNALEY again and cross the bridge to face off against him one last time. He may use an AIRHORN against you; if so, use a RAIN CLOUD or make yourselves sad so you can wail on him until he loses.

Heal at MARI's (19/28) PICNIC and then go south so you can walk through the UNDERWATER HIGHWAY properly.

Underwater Highway

You will come across the (18/26) S KEY on a shell. Unlike other holes, this one shows a nice reflection! Pay for the toll booths so you can travel at your leisure across the whole road. We'll now move from the right side of the road to the left. Take a look in the (08/11) FLOATING MIRROR and enter the house southwest of it. Northwest of this house is our second (2/4) TELESCOPE. One is in ORANGE OASIS, but because the fourth is only accessible in Route B, we don't need to worry about finding all four in Route A.

Further to the left is the MUSTARD SUB, which sells pretty nice late-game food. Approach SPACE... EX-HUSBAND and watch him belt out some tunes. He sounds like a certain performer from Eagleland. Finally, the last landmark is the SEACOW FARM. As the name suggests, you can farm EXP and CLAMS here. Talk to the farmer in the barn so he can reward you 500C per (48/85) SQUIZZARD, increasing your CLAM intake even more. If you use the BOOK and/or the CLAM COIN, your EXP and CLAMS will roll in even faster. The farmer's side quest never ends so you can continue to farm SQUIZZARDS for eternity. There is a BADGE #56: SQUIZZARD EXTERMINATOR for defeating 100 SQUIZZARDS minimum. Simply enter and leave the barn to refresh the SQUIZZARDS. Feel free to grind out 100 SQUIZZARDS on either route; you'll need it more on Route B though. Save nearby with MARI if you want to take a break while farming.

Note: For a gauge on how much EXP you will gain from this, my team was about Lv33 (with HERO holding the BOOK, making him about Lv37) and after grinding enough to get the BADGE, everyone was Lv44 and HERO was at the maximum of Lv50. If you decide to grind this out on Route A, it will make the rest of the game super easy, but there isn't much left. Those on Route B are expected to reach max level anyway and you'll need CLAMS, so you may decide to grind on both routes if you can handle grinding.

From MARI's most recent PICNIC, go back to PLUTO'S SPACELINE and fly to the VAST FOREST. We will first walk into PYREFLY FOREST since the WEEPING WILLOW is closer to the entrance than the end. Immediately turn left when you enter the forest. Tell her the below joke for a reward and BADGE #83: XD.

Next, on either Route A or Route B, check your CLAMS and determine whether you can sacrifice 106,000 CLAMS for two more BADGES on this playthrough. On Route A, you are near the end of the game and there are no important shops in the final area of the game, so you don't really need the CLAMS that you have before you continue. If so, follow the next few paragraphs. If not, skip to the next segment, Aquifer.

Now that we have the funds, we're going to return to the SPROUT MOLE VILLAGE via the PYREFLY FOREST fast travel station. Enter SWEETHEART's stage and use the hatch on the left to reach the underground passageway towards the courtyard. Look on the left for a hole and enter it. A very struggling artist lives down here; commission his first art piece for 1000 CLAMS. To have him finish the piece, you need to leave the SPROUT MOLE VILLAGE so you're back in PYREFLY FOREST. Immediately walk back to ROCOCO and he'll be ready for you to commission another! For the first art piece, you'll get BADGE #60: THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Commission ROCOCO five more times and spend the rest of that large stack of required CLAMS. When he's done all six pieces of art and you talk to him afterwards, you will get BADGE #42: PATRON OF THE ARTS.

Aquifer

With that out of the way, water BASIL's plants, then go back to MARI at the end of the UNDERWATER HIGHWAY. Go north from here to the bridge towards DEEPER WELL.

At a certain point, you will come across a large, flat area with three warp holes. Take the "middle one," or rather the one to the northeast. The others are dead ends. When you enter a corridor flooded with water, make sure you go north when you come across a path that points in that direction and is straight. The BRANCH CORAL lives here and will cryptically deliver a bunch of lore to you. Accept its sacrifice so you can become stronger.

Enter the maw of a skeletal fish and save your game when inside. Speak to the entity inside and enter.
