Storyline

After Yasu went through the banging door, he walks into a narrow hallway with the words "AM I PRETTY?" written all over the walls. When he walks to a window, Mihari attempts to attack him but fails, and she goes back into the dark forest.

Yasu opens another door to a maze that resembles a house, where he has to ring 5 bells in order to unlock Mihari's corrupted spirit while trying to avoid her hunting him down. After successfully ringing all of the 5 bells, he is tasked to get her spirit and put it on an altar, burning it afterwards. When Mihari's spirit is burned, she screams in pain while Kintoru calls Yasu a murderer, trying to deceive him. Meanwhile Mihari is seen being burned to death by a large white flame, unlocking the door to Omukade's Lair.

Objective

Your objective is to burn five bells that are found around the maze while evading Mihari. Some can be seen in plain sight, while others are more hidden.

After burning the five bells, you can now take Mihari's spirit. You will then have to get the spirit from Mihari herself before going back to the entrance and placing it on the altar.

To get Mihari's spirit easily, you can start a chase in one of the area's around the map and then run back to the spawn. Once you reach the spawn, Mihari will turn back allowing you to get the Butterfly Spirit easily by just following her behind the back, considering Mihari has slow movement when she's not chasing someone.

After burning Mihari's corrupted spirit, a cutscene of her burning to death plays, which also shows the door to the next stage opening. Proceed to the door and you will be transported to Omukade's Lair, the final part of Chapter III.

In-game Information

Maze

The maze resembles a house, except it's like a labyrinth, with toppled over and misplaced furniture. Portraits of Kintoru can frequently be seen all over the house.

Bells

There are five bells in total that is needed to ring in order to unlock Mihari's spirit. When a bell is burned, it turns black and emits some white flames.

Corrupted Butterfly Spirit

Mihari's corrupted butterfly spirit is needed to unlock the door leading to the next stage. Players must ring all five bells first in order to unlock it, then they must get it from her directly. Once it's stolen, you must put it at the altar to burn it.

Altar

The altar is used to burn the corrupted butterfly spirit of Mihari. It's placed at spawn.

Hiding Spots

The House Maze has only 2 hiding Spots. One of them is the closet that is near the top right of spot. Despite the closet being a supposed safe spot, Mihari can still kill you if you're in the closet because of her hitbox. The other safe spot is the spawn where Mihari is not able to enter. Because of this, the best safe spot for when she's chasing you is at spawn.

Trivia

  • This location replaced the Skull Labyrinth in the Control's Book revamp.
  • The objective of having to steal Mihari's Butterfly Spirit is similar to the one in The Witch Trials: Kyoto Town. There, one of the objectives is to steal Futaomote's butterfly spirits in order to unlock the exit.
  • There are certain spots where you can hide from Mihari. Specifically the behind furnitures seen around the house. For instance, behind the kitchen counters and the table near the static TV. On top of that, these furnitures can also be used to make Mihari stop pursuing you, ending her pursuit due to invisible barriers placed on top of them.
  • If you go back into the maze after the cutscene ends, Mihari's corpse is nowhere to be seen, however she is actually still alive, in fact invisible, and can still kill you with no jumpscare.
    • This is most likely because you're not supposed to go in the maze after finishing it, so there was no need to disable her and put her body in the maze.
