Jigoku[]

After having his heart ripped out by Enzukai, Isamu arrives in Jigoku and is transported to its entrance, which presents itself as a large, ominous minka surrounded by dead trees and eyeballs. He proceeds forward and is met with the two gatekeepers of hell, Gozu and Mezu, who then argue about Isamu.

Gozu:

"This one's mine, you already had the last one."

"You better not intervene this time. I've been starving like a cow."

Mezu:

"You idiot! Look at him closely."

"He's clearly a special case..."

"We'll give him to the old man.""This one's all skin and bones anyways."

They come to the conclusion to let him meet Old Man Keneo, and before Isamu could do anything, he subsequently faints.

Keneo's Minka[]

Isamu then awoke in Keneo's Minka - an eerie, bloody, and unsettling area; the doors and walls resembled the likes of flesh and bones, and blood was ubiquitous across the Minka. Isamu opened a door found to the left, and there he encountered Old Man Keneo. Isamu, confused and afraid, didn't know how he could possibly exit Jigoku, so Keneo instructs him to traverse the realms of hell first, and once he reaches the deepest layer, he'll meet him. The first objective which Isamu had was to collect four hearts, one of them guarded by a Shinchu, and place them on the hands located in the center room. After doing so, he spun them around until they were crushed. This opened an exit doorway, allowing Isamu to enter the next part of his journey.

Twisted Labyrinth[]

After entering, Isamu located a white particle at the end of a hallway. He carefully approached it, hesitant but curious. Once he got close enough, the particle turned red and a satanic sigil appeared below him. From the sigil, an entity named the Nejibishoma arose, and began chasing Isamu through falling pieces of wood, bloody floors and walls, and the same flesh-like doors. After the cumbersome chase, Isamu entered the Twisted Labyrinth, where he realized that the Nejibishoma wasn't finished with him yet. He met entities called the Shokunin who asked him to feed them two pieces of sticks and one piece of cloth. While avoiding the Nejibishoma, who was traversing the cave, Isamu was able to locate the required items in small crevices around the area (Note: When interacting with the crevices, it's possible that a Shinchu could jump out and attack you. To free yourself, spam-click 'E'. You will not receive the item). After feeding a Shokunin, Isamu was given a torch which he lit up with purple fire located around the cave. He throws it at the Neijibishoma who shrieks in pain and agony. After burning the entity 2-3 times, an exit doorway opens up, allowing Isamu to escape and enter the Cavern of Wealth.

(Note: To burn the Grin Demon, equip your lighted torch and left-click the entity when close to it).

Cavern of Wealth[]

After leaving the cave, Isamu finds a sword made out of pure bone. He enters Cavern of Wealth, where he meets Hakamori for the first time. She calls Isamu ugly, which he finds hypocritical. Subsequent to this, Hakamori instructs Isamu to ring all bells located in the area, and to kill anything that attacks him. She then exits The Bell Temple, leaving Isamu to continue his venture. In order to ring a bell, Isamu must complete the same memory-based puzzle found in the "The Tower" in Jealousy's Book: Chapter II. After completing the puzzle, a tentacle emerges from the ground below, doing a dangerous swing attack (Note: If you are caught by the tentacle, you must spam 'E' to get out). Once the attack is done, Isamu takes his sword and slices the tentacle until it dissipates. He does this for all bells except the final one; after completing the final memory-based puzzle, an entity named Dodomeki (The Greedful Angel) emerges. She says, 'Yield', meaning Isamu must now stand still and complete a mini-challenge where he must press buttons at exactly the right time. In between Dodomeki's attacks, Isamu must visit 2-3 doors where he must identify shapes that are located on top of one another. Once completing the last door, it opens, allowing him to exit The Bell Temple. When Isamu thinks he's finished with Dodomeki, the entity comes through the door and chases Isamu down paths of falling rubble, moving platforms, and several areas (Note: There is a part in this chase where you must turn backwards).

Twisted Lake[]

After escaping, Isamu envisions falling in a burning city being attacked by the Gashadokuro, and he wonders why his brother Senzai punished him by sending him to rot in Jigoku for eternity. He hits the ground, passing out, and subsequently wakes up in a flooded hallway. After walking forward for a while, Enzukai: The Beast of Jealousy appears in front of him and drags him down to the Twisted Lake. Isamu is now on a boat in the middle of nowhere, confused and frightened. Shadows of Enzukai appear, and Isamu must push them off (Holding 'E') in order to survive. Every time he does this, Enzukai speaks to him. Here are the phrases it says in order:

  • "You're pathetic Isamu"
  • "You're the reason your brother became this way"
  • "Have you no sense of guilt or shame?"
  • "You can't bring him back"
  • "Senzai is gone"
  • "Did you ever consider him your brother?"
  • "I was the only one there for him"

This transitions into the next part, The Father's Minka, where Isamu gets to witness his brothers memories and why he joined The Kiiroibara Cult.

Uchiumi Residence[]

After encountering Enzukai, Isamu is transported to an empty, dark village surrounded by lonely trees and buildings. He discovered his old Minka; where he, his dad, and Senzai lived together. Isamu then realized he was inside Senzai's body, experiencing what he feels. There is a "sanity" bar which can be increased by mopping the floors, doing the dishes, turning off the TV, removing rodents from cabinets, and praying to Enzukai. Around 6-7pm, there would be a slight ding noise, indicating that Father was coming home (Note: Currently, Isamu's Father is dead). Isamu (in Senzai's body) must go to sleep and play a heartbeat minigame similar to the one found in "DOORS" while Father stares at him with haunting gaze; he is portrayed as a monster with black, dark eyes, and an emotionless face. After surviving three nights, we are put right in front of our father who appears extremely angry and aggressive. He begins speaking:

  • Father: "Why do you never behave as I tell you to?"
  • Father: "You're a disgrace to this family do you know that? Why can't you be more like your brother?"
  • Father: "It's about time I teach you a lesson" (Subsequently grabs us, dragging us across the floor)
  • Senzai's Voice: "Father, please, I am so sorry."
  • Senzai's Voice: "I'm sorry, please, I'll be more like Isamu. I promise, I won't do it again!"

After, we see a boy on the stairs resembling ourself with an evil grin and demonic eyes. The unnatural and monstruous characteristics which Isamu and Father have in this scene are allegorical representations which demonstrate how Senzai viewed his family. It's believed that Enzukai is corrupting Senzai's memories in a specific way that makes him more jealous of Isamu in order to increase his faith in the Kiiroibara Cult. Isamu, after experiencing this memory, wakes up in a train station.

The Train Station[]

Isamu, who just awoke in a train station, felt guilty and blamed himself for Senzai's current status, and additionally questioned whether he was back in Tokyo because of the seemingly normal environment. He immediately discarded the idea and realized this place was a mimic of reality. After walking up one flight of stairs, he continued to the left and found an anonymous entity smushed inside a crevice in the wall. Slowly, Isamu picks up their leg and grabs the crowbar underneath, immediately getting back from the body. Just when he thinks everything is fine, the body suddenly disappears, leaving him in a shock. Isamu walks back and takes down a few planks which were blocking a pathway to another station. He hears a train approaching, and prepares to board. This train is unlike the others; it has a long worm-like structure around its exterior with eyeballs on top as well. The interior of the train seems natural with nice red seats and calming floors. Isamu looks outside and observes skeletons resembling the Gashadokuro, bloody walls covered with eyes, and groups of arms resembling The Evil God as depicted in Chapter IV: Control's Book. Suddenly, the train comes to a stop, and an entity called The Train Monster comes at Isamu from the front as he tries to escape (Note: To escape, you must spam 'E').

Abandoned Village[]

After barely escaping, Isamu arrives in a small village covered in Chozos and Larvaes. He encounters Hakamori again, who tells him to feed the Larvaes to anyone blocking his path, and to beware of everything because all of it most definitely will harm him. Isamu goes deeper into the village, discovering that the Chozos will attempt to capture him when he's not looking at them. While avoiding these murderous statues, Isamu locates a Larvae sleeping on the ground. He picks it up carefully and uses a wooden mechanical system on the side of a barrier to get over it. Continuing to avoid the Chozos, Isamu encounters the Nurikabe, who is blocking the path forward. Following Hakamori's instructions, Isamu feeds the Larvae to it, angering the Bugī (who considers the Larvaes to be his 'children'). The environment turns red, and the Bugī, armed with a living chainsaw named Mochi, begins to chase Isamu around his lair. Isamu carefully gets the required Larvae and feeds it to Nurikabe. It finally moves out of the way, allowing Isamu to exit this lair and enter the Goop River.

  • Note: When holding a Larvae for too long, it will wake up and start screaming at you. If you do not feed it to Nurikabe in time, the Larvae will consume you whole.

Goop River[]

After exiting Bugī's Lair, Isamu enters this disgusting river covered in a slimy material, along with mattresses and rocks which covered the path in front of him. To escape, he would have to walk through this river and get to the other side. It would be impossible to sprint in this section due to the slimy, sticky material. Stepping forward, Isamu hears a greasy noise, and observes this wave coming towards him. He continues forward and gets on one of the rocks/mattresses, which consequently made the wave dissipate. He continues to traverse the river, avoiding these deadly waves and sticking to the rocks and mattresses. Finally, he enters this giant hole, and subsequently wakes up in Yurei's Forest.

Yurei's Mori[]

Isamu falls into Yurei's Mori; a place covered in large trees, bushes, flowers, and rocks. Hakamori emerges from the ground again, and announced to Isamu that he's on the final layer. She continues, "anger the spirit here by stealing their treasure. Keep in mind, the spirit is the key." She leaves the forest, leaving Isamu to continue through this final section. The place was covered in Chozos and wooden houses; Isamu recognized that the belongings in each house belonged to a spirit named Yurei. In each of these houses, Isamu would have to locate a selected number of items, but as he was doing so, Yurei would occasionally appear beside him. To stay alive, Isamu must look at her until she disappears, to which he can then continue to locate the required items. After finding everything, the house would burn down, leaving nothing left. Once all houses were burnt down, Isamu would have one last task: to kill Yurei.

Easter Egg: The Beast of Control, Kintoru (the main antagonist of Book I), makes a short cameo in this part of the chapter. Tied to a Sakura tree in a crevice located on the side of the map, Kintoru says to Isamu: "Humans... Puppets... humans.... - You remind me of something... perhaps someone? - I can't remember anything... - please help me..." to which Isamu tells himself "I probably shouldn't", potentially avoiding becoming one of her puppets. Kintoru is believed to be here because at the end of Control's Book: Chapter IV, the Evil God takes her down to Jigoku. She appears in a new 'caterpillar' form; weak and puny.

Yurei's Arena[]

After Isamu burned Yurei's property, she emerged from a tree and proclaimed: "Over and over again you humans find ways to be parasites. Do you truly think you can stand against the embodiment of nature's wrath? Once I eradicate your filthy soul, it will serve a greater purpose. A purpose that will feed the roots of a tree." In an environment all red with dead trees and white Katanas, Isamu would now have to kill Yurei in order to meet him. In the first half of the battle, Yurei has several attacks: slashing, stomping, a lunge attack, and a jump slam. Isamu picks up the White Katanas and throws them at Yurei. Once damaged a lot, a red tree grows in the center of the arena which heals Yurei to a maximum of half health (which has the potential to spawn for the rest of the battle). In order to destroy the tree, Isamu must throw a Katana at it. Now, the second phase has begun. Yurei has three main new attacks: one involving dendrokinesis, a corkscrew jump attack, and the healing tree. Finally, Isamu kills Yurei, who speaks her last words (You humans will never change, ultimately bringing about one's own destruction, they're selfish people.) She falls and noclips into the ground below, becoming a tree which grows from beneath. Isamu see's a glow from inside the tree, and decides to enter it.

Throne of Jigoku[]

After entering, Isamu found himself in an empty red atmosphere. He walked forward, and located a crimson red soul at the edge of the palace. Finally, Shinigami, the previous ruler of Jigoku, revealed himself to Isamu. He was sitting on the Throne, and used his telekinetic power to grab his scythe. In a monstruous, intimidating tone, he says: "I've been waiting for you human. I see you've come to me for help. I'm surprised you made it this far. You want to make a deal with me? An expensive one as well, you want me to bring you back to life? That's practically impossible for me to do. However... I can grant you half your wish, and with a price. Your time back on Earth will be limited, and I will only grant you this wish if you complete my trial. If you fail, your soul belongs to me and the deal is off!". He laughs like a maniac, and suddenly, Isamu is running from him! He first crosses a bridge, and then subsequently opens several flesh-like doors rapidly. After, he falls down a crevice and continues running through a corridor with pillars on the side. Shinigami appears in the air, and cuts the top of the pillars which are about to fall on Isamu, but he luckily escapes in time. He continues running, opens several more doors, takes some steep turns, until he arrives in this grand, red area with a white barrier located at the end. He begins to run closer to it as fast as possible, but from behind, Shinigami appears, riding on top of Hakamori. He continues running, and a second before dying, he makes it! His view turns completely white, but hears some mysterious being say "A tragic fate lies ahead".

Kawasaki Ward[]

Isamu awoke in the Kawasaki Ward, which is a city found in Tokyo, and it appeared to be completely destroyed. Confused, Isamu thought, "I don't understand... I thought I just escaped hell?". He hears men, women, and children screaming... glass shattering among the buildings around... Gashadokuro attacking everything. He realizes, "No this- this is really Tokyo." He looks up, and observes Enzukai (The Main Antagonist) covering himself in some black material. Suddenly, the material transforms into a humungous figure encompassing Enzukai, until it explodes to reveal Enzukai's Second Form: from crimson red skin, green eyes, two yellow horns, and yellow teeth, Enzukai is now a monstruous demon with a mixture of red and black skin. Now it has not only one, but three heads, along with a long demonic tail, a bone-like structure for the body, yellow eyes, four black horns, and a massive increase in size. At the very end, we see every significant monster we met in Chapter I and Chapter II, including: Kurayami, Chihiro, Tsukiya, Rin Tsushima, Kyogi, Takane, Senzai Uchiumi, Zuboshi, and Shosai.

Trivia[]

  • This chapter is the first chapter to be released in 2024.
    • It is also the seventh chapter to ever be released in The Mimic.
  • The chapter began development on June 5th, 2023, only 17 days after the release of Jealousy Chapter II.
  • Originally, the chapter was planned to be released in halves with the first half coming out in October of 2023 and the second half releasing later in November of 2023 as chosen via a Discord poll. This was dismissed as the majority voted for complete release of the chapter.
  • On October 26, 2023, the first trailer of Jealousy Chapter III was released.
    • The trailer announced that this chapter would release in late November 2023, but due to delays, it ended up having its release date be a few months later.
  • On January 7, 2024, the second and final trailer of Jealousy Chapter III released.
    • It confirmed that Jealousy Chapter III would release on January 13, 2024, alongside a Christmas side event, aptly named Snowy Hell, to compensate for the delays . [1]
  • This is the second chapter to have a mini side event in it after Control's Book: Chapter I with Jigoku and Hiachi's Request.
  • This chapter is longer than Jealousy Chapter II and the longest chapter of The Mimic so far.[2]

Snowy Hell[]

A small Christmas or winter themed event released the same day as the release of Jealousy Chapter 3, which the player had to escape the Nejibishoma Jigoku Mining Cave and then the player would then go to the secret NPC that would lead them to the "Snowy Hell" Map to fight or shoot the Chenoo with the shotgun and get the limited Chenoo lantern.

A small Christmas/Winter-Themed event named "Snowy Hell" was released the same day as Jealousy's Book: Chapter III on January 13th/14th. To access the event, the player must first pass the Twisted Labyrinth and enter a flesh-like door leading to a snowy area. There is a 20%-25% chance that a small NPC named Nyudo will spawn, who will say to the player: "Hello there silly inferior soul. I need something killed and brought down to hell here. And only souls like you can do this. What do you say? Hehe you up for this? OR are you just another worthless guilty soul in hell?" If one agrees to the plan, you will be transported as a ghost to MUCDICH's cabin, where you will possess him. In a humorous manner, after possessing the creator of THE MIMIC, the game makes you say, "I do look more muscular and handsome now... I could get used to this." After, you head up a hill with a shotgun and enter a snowy cave. A cutscene plays, showing a small, cute Chenoo on the ground, but then it zooms out and displays a giant, hairy, aggressive one. In order to beat Snowy Hell, you must kill the giant monster with your Shotgun... you will only have one life. After doing so, you will be given the badge and the Cheeno lantern (shown below).
